Former Party Secretary and Nhan Dan newspaper's Editor-in-Chief passes away

Nhan Dan - Hong Ha, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee and former Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (People) newspaper passed away on January 14 at the age of 83.

Hong Ha, whose real name was Ha Van Truong was born on September 5, 1928 in Nam Dinh city.

He joined in revolutionary activities in March 1945 and became a Party member in 1947. In joining the revolution over the past 60 years, he made significant contributions to the Party and the nation. He was honoured with the Ho Chi Minh Order; the Anti-French Resistance War Order, second class; the Anti-US Resistance War Order, first class; and other noble orders.

Hong Ha also held many key positions such as Chief of the Party Central Committee Office, Head of the PCC Commission for External Relations, Assistant to the Party General Secretary, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee, etc.

A State funeral will be held for comrade Hong Ha on January 20. He will be buried at the Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi on the same day.
