NA election council convenes first session

The election council of the 13th National Assembly and for People's Councils at all levels for the 2011-16 term held its first session in Hanoi on January 24.

The election council discussed its activities and a plan to organise a national conference on the national polls. The council is scheduled to set up three sub-committees: the Popularisation Sub-Committee, the Steering Sub-Committee for Complaint Settlement and the Social Order, Safety and Security Sub-Committee.

Party General Secretary and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong said the election of the 13th NA and for People's Councils at all levels for the 2011-16 term will take place on the same day, May 22 this year.

Party leader Trong laid stress on paying attention to the co-ordination work and thoroughly checking legal documents as well as the importance of personnel consultation, selection, evaluation and introduction in a democratic manner and in accordance with the law.

He also asked the sub-committees to print and distribute election materials and well prepare for the national conference on the polls which will be held on February 10-11.
