Trade union congress to open in Hanoi

Nhan Dan Online – The 11th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Unions officially opens in Hanoi on July 28 with the participation of 950 delegates from unions nationwide along with seven international guests.

Of the delegates, 696 are Party members. 253 are female delegates, and 37 are ethnic minority people.

The congress will review the activities of trade unions over the past 5 years, before devising orientations and tasks for the 2013 – 2018 period.

The delegates will focus on building a capable workforce, recruiting youth union members and enhancing the role of trade union representatives in making laws and policies on issues related to workers and cadres.

The 11th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Unions is considered an important political event for workers across the country. It will map out orientations, targets, tasks, solutions and the patriotic emulation movement among the working class and labourers for the 2013-2018 term.
