General Le Duc Anh awarded 75-year Party membership insignia

Nhan Dan - Former Politburo member and President, General Le Duc Anh was honoured for his 75 years of Party membership during a solemn ceremony held at the Headquarters of the Ministry of National Defence in Hanoi on July 29.

Prominent among the attendees were Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Truong Tan Sang, former President Tran Duc Luong, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh and Minister of National Defence General Phung Quang Thanh.

On behalf of the Party and State, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated the former leader, saying that the badge was bestowed by the Party in recognition of his achievements and contributions to the nation over the past 75 years.

Addressing the ceremony, General Secretary Trong acknowledged the significant contributions of General Le Duc Anh to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He added that the General has always shown the virtues of a Party member while successfully accomplishing the tasks assigned to him by the Party and the State.

For his part, General Anh expressed his thanks to the Party and spoke of his great pride in having participated in the revolutionary struggle for national independence in the past, and having contributed to the current cause of renewal and socialist construction.

Born in 1920, General Anh joined the Communist Party in 1938, subsequently holding numerous important positions, including Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Party Committee, Minister of National Defence, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and consultant to the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee.
