Over the past four decades, the revolutionary spirit and treasured lessons learnt from the great victory of Spring 1975 have shed light for the provincial Party committee, army and people to successfully realise its strategic tasks of constructing and defending the locality, thus contributing to the national development.

In 2014, Ca Mau observed an economic growth rate of 8.5%, budget collection of over VND 3,000 billion, and export revenue of US$ 1.3 billion. People’s living standards have also improved with a reduced number of poor households.

Speaking at the event, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh congratulated the province’s achievements in recent years.

He asked the provincial administration to mobilise all available resources and capital to improve its infrastructure, facilitate socio-economic development, build rural areas, ensure social welfare, reduce poverty and maintain social order and security.

The local Party Committee should foster Party building, prevent the degradation of ethics among Party members, fight against corruption and wastefulness, and promote democracy, he stressed.

The same ceremony to mark national reunification was also held in An Giang province in the presence of Politburo member and Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) Dinh The Huynh.

Politburo member Huynh, who is also Head of the PCC Commission for Communication and Education, urged the provincial Party committee, authorities and people to exert every effort, and uphold patriotism and the revolutionary spirit to boost the province’s faster and more sustainable development.

The province was requested to intensify defence and security, and take drastic measures to fight cross-border smuggling and trade fraud.

It is also necessary to better the implementation of the ‘Study and Follow President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Examples’ campaign and realise the Resolution on Party building.
