The event was attended by National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, along with representatives of the central ministries and branches, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and 450 outstanding people working in the sector.

Established on August 28, 1945, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs actively advises the Party and State in issuing and implementing guidelines and policies related to labourers, people in difficult circumstances, invalids, families of martyrs and revolutionary contributors.

All generations of officials, civil servants and employees in the sector have been dedicated and united in overcoming all difficulties and challenges, greatly contributing to the cause of national liberation and reunification in the past as well as the current process of national construction and development.

Numerous patriotic emulation movements have also been launched, attracting a large number of officials, cadres and staff working in the sector. Through the movements, many outstanding people have been honoured, generating a strong motivation to work successfully.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam emphasised that the labour, invalids and social affairs sector has had a very important role in implementing polices related to labourers, national contributors and social security. The sector’s activities over the past years have had a direct impact on the lives of all families in the country as well as the implementation of army rear policies, political and social stability, economic development, national construction and defence.

On behalf of the government, the Deputy PM praised the individuals and collectives in the sector who have made outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement in recent years.

He also expressed his hope that the sector would continue to promote emulation movements associated with studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's moral example and the ‘showing gratitude’ movement, as well as focus on the work of supporting and caring for war invalids, families of martyrs and revolutionary contributors, and implementation of welfare policies.

At the ceremony, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung presented the Ho Chi Minh Order to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs for their excellent contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and nation.
