Opening the meeting, PM Dung extended congratulations on the 12th National Party Congress’ success and to Cabinet members elected to the Politburo and the Secretariat of the 12th Party Central Committee (PCC), as well as to the 12th PCC.

As scheduled, the government heard and discussed a report on the implementation of the government’s Resolution No.01/NQ-CP and January’s socio-economic situation; a draft decree on supplementing and amending several articles in Decree No.31/2013/NQ-CP on regulating specifically and directing the implantation of several articles in the Ordinance on Prioritising Revolutionary Contributors; and collection of fines on administrative violations in land transportation.

Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh presented the report on the implementation of the government’s resolution and January’s socio-economic situation, saying that ministries, sectors and localities implemented the directions and assigned tasks with specific action plans and enhanced measures to stabilise the market and prices in order to serve people during the coming Lunar New Year festival.

Vinh highlighted achievements and stressed that the slow recovery of the world economy and the world oil price falls would affect the country’s economy, particularly the State budget collection.

In addition, the recent severe cold and snow in the northern mountainous region caused damages to plants and cattle, which need measures in place to recover from consequences, prevent diseases for cattle and improve the living standards for ethnic minority people.
