Reporting on the academy’s development, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the Party Central Committee and director of the academy, stated that the facility was a national training centre for leaders and senior managers for the whole political system, as well as the national centre for research on Marxism–Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, the Party’s line, the State’s policies and laws and the science of leadership and management.

Currently, in the field of training, the academy focuses on updating curricula to include new issues addressed in documents from the 12th National Party Congress, as well as new issues concerning national development with reference to the international context for more practical lectures. The institute has also set improving educational quality as a pivotal task for the coming period.

At the meeting, representatives from relevant Party bodies discussed major issues faced by the academy while seeking measures to facilitate its innovation programmes and training agenda, to improve the quality of theoretical research and to map out its development plan for the 2016-2020 period.

Pointing to the strengths and shortcomings of the academy, Politburo member Huynh emphasised that it was necessary for the facility to consolidate its role as a senior academy of the Party Central Committee, one of the central bodies of the Party and the only national centre responsible for the training of personnel, leaders and managers for the entire political system.

He urged the academy to continue to revamp its training programmes while promoting scientific research to improve the quality of training and to provide a practical scientific foundation for the Party and State in planning their lines, standpoints and strategies.

Saying that the decisive factor in improving the quality of training for the entire academy was high-quality human resources, Politburo member Huynh asked the Party training institute to improve the political and ideological perspective of its staff, promote good morale and expertise among them and to provide them with an exemplary pedagogical working environment and modern teaching materials.

He also required relevant ministries, central agencies and the local authorities in Hanoi to remove difficulties and introduce more investment to develop the academy into a modern training centre on par with others in the region and around the world.
