The PM made the statement while attending the Conference for OV themed ‘Vietnamese expatriates join hands for Ho Chi Minh City’s rapid and sustainable development and international integration’ that officially opened in the City on November 12.

The event was also attended by Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation; Deputy PM / Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh; and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Commiteee Dinh La Thang.

At the event, on behalf of the Party and State, PM Phuc extended his greetings to OV around the world, and participants to the conference in particular.

He emphasised that the OV community is an inseparable part of the nation, a bridge strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and foreign countries, and an important resource for the economic development of the country. The fatherland always welcomes Vietnamese expatriats with a desire to share ideas and resources to contribute to the nation’s development, added the PM.

The Government leader said that the contributions of the OV communities are essential and management agencies should consult and collect their ideas in building polices and mechanisms. Their new and creative proposals at the conference showed the special attention and responsibility to the major issues of Ho Chi Minh City.

PM Phuc also informed the Vietnamese expatriats of measures to build a transparent, strong and united government, removing all barriers and better serving people and enterprises in order to promote all resources. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government is accelerating economic restructuring, in association with innovating the growth model and taking advantage of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) to improve the competitiveness of the country’s economy.

The PM asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ho Chi Minh City and major urban areas to actively create channels, forums and talks with OV to collect their contribution ideas.

The Conference for OV, which lasts until November 14, gathers 500 Overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs and intellectuals from 35 countries and territories around the world.

On the same day, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a meeting with outstanding OV experts, intellectuals and entrepreneurs to listen their initiatives and proposals to numerous fields related to the country’s socio-economic development.
