The statement was made by Politburo member and Secretary of Hanoi municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai during his working session with the Hanoi People’s Court.

Speaking at the working session, the Politburo member appreciated efforts made by the Hanoi People’s Court in overcoming all difficulties to fulfill its tasks over the past years, increasing the rate of solved cases.

He also asked the agency to focus on measures to limit canceled and modified judgments due to subjective faults.

The Politburo member emphasised that during the international integration process, the situation of crime is changing in a more complex and sophisticated manner, particularly with the presence of increasing transnational crimes; therefore, the court sector’s officials and staff should improve their foreign language skills and knowledge of international law.

Secretary Hoang Trung Hai asked the People’s Court to pay more attention to educating political and ideological education among its staff as well as strictly implementing criticism and self-criticism under the spirit of Resolution of the 4th Plenum of the Party Central Committee (12th tenure), associated with building a clean and strong Party.

The People’s Courts at both city and district levels need to co-ordinate with People's Procuracies and investigating authorities in conducting proceedings as well as enhance mutual checks and inspection in order to avoid wrongful convictions.

In addition, Politburo member Hai urged the administrative reform of the People’s Court and asked the agency to listen to feedback from the people in order to promptly adjust the inadequate issues.
