The deputy PM made the statement at a ceremony marking 60 years of NUCE’s training and 50 years since its establishment in Hanoi, on November 19.

On behalf of the Government, he congratulated and praised generations of NUCE’s leaders, lecturers and students on their achievements over the past six decades.

Highlighting the decisive role played by construction workers in ensuring the quality of construction works, avoiding losses and wastefulness and enhancing the efficiency of investment capital, Deputy PM Dung urged NUCE to focus on training and supplying qualified human resources to serve State management on construction investment and to perform tasks relating to construction investment.

The university should also pay attention to training economic, technical and environmental human resources to meet the demand for manufacturing “green” construction products, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change, he added.

The deputy PM requested that NUCE renovate its management model, strongly promote democracy in its organisation and operations and meet the modern standards of large tertiary educational centres in the region and around the world.

NUCE needs to constantly update and renovate its training programmes, increase the rate of practice, and develop students’ soft skills and foreign language capacity, he said, asking the university to prioritise building and developing a staff of highly qualified officials and lecturers.

He also urged NUCE to proactively expand cooperation with training and research institutions, both at home and abroad, and build advanced training programmes gradually approaching regional and global standards.

On the occasion of the event, Deputy PM Dung presented the Independence Order, first class, to NUCE. It was the second time the university had received such an honour.
