VFF President appreciates Vietnam Red Cross Society’s contributions

NDO—The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) has become an active member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC), as well as a pioneer organisation in the field of humanitarian aid.

A statement to this effect was made by Politburo member and VFFCC President Nguyen Thien Nhan at a ceremony held in Hanoi on November 23 to celebrate 70th founding anniversary of the VRCS (November 23, 1946-2016).

Speaking at the event, the VFF leader praised and congratulated the VRCS’s outstanding achievements over the past 70 years.

He affirmed that movements launched by the VRCS have actively supported numerous the poor and vulnerable people in society in overcoming difficulties and stabilising their lives.

With practical and effective activities, the VRCS has greatly contributed to the country’s development both in wartime and peacetime, the VFF President said. Its contributions have been honoured by the Party and State and recognised by the people.

VFF President Nhan appreciated the close coordination between the VFF and the VRCS in recent times, particularly in caring people in need, as well as renovating and building houses and providing free healthcare for the poor, significantly contributing to the eradication of hunger and poverty reduction in poor districts and communes.

He expressed his hope that the VRCS’s workers would continue to uphold the spirit of solidarity to promote the work of humanitarian aid, charity activities and care for vulnerable groups.
