NA leader attends Congress of Ben Tre Women’s Association

Politburo member and Chairwoman of National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended the fourth Congress of the Ben Tre provincial Women’s Union for 2016-2021 tenure that opened on November 24.

Addressing the opening ceremony, NA Chairman Ngan said that the provincial union should continue to consolidate and improve the quality of its activities in order to attract more women to join the association.

She emphasised that the unions at all levels need to focus on promoting social supervision and criticism while communicating the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies and conveying the thoughts and aspirations of the people, particularly women, to relevant agencies.

The NA leader also asked the unions at all levels to actively advise and propose policies related to women and children, particularly in regards to training female officials for the Party committees and government.

She urged the women’s associations to accelerate activities supporting local women to eradicate hunger and reduce poverty as well as assisting policy beneficiary families and revolutionary contributors.

The provincial Women’s Union should enhance the implementation of social welfare policies to contribute to making Ben Tre more prosperous, beautiful and civilised, added NA Chairwoman Ngan.

On the occasion, the NA Chairwoman asked the Vietnam Women’s Union Central Committee to effectively direct the unions in provinces and cities to boost patriotism and encouragement of self-reliance among women as well as care for them, particularly those who are living in difficult circumstances.

The ninth Congress of Ben Tre provincial Women’s Union will last unit November 25.
