The event was presided over by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, who is also head of Steering Committee for the implementation of Scheme 258.

According to a report, the scheme has made positive changes in raising the role and responsibilities of relevant agencies and individuals in promoting judicial assessment activities.

Addressing the conference, Deputy PM Binh emphasised that Scheme 258 had been approved by the Government in 2010, which had taken numerous measures to show its determination to basically and comprehensively renovate judicial assessment activities.

However, after five years of implementation, judicial assessment work still faces obstacles and limitations such as the slow issue of guidance documents, a lack of specialised employees in the field of judicial assessment and backward infrastructure.

The Deputy PM urged the Ministry of Justice to prepare a specific report and submit it to the Prime Minister for consideration and a decision on implementing Scheme 258 until 2020, in association with judicial reform and the implementation of Judicial Assessment Law.

He also asked relevant ministries and agencies to effectively direct the removal of obstacles to the judicial assessment of corruption and economic cases in order to improve the efficiency of the prevention and control of corruption.

Central agencies conducting legal proceedings needed to closely coordinate with relevant ministries and judicial assessment management agencies to improve the efficiency of judicial assessment activities, Deputy PM Binh added.
