According to a report by Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union Nguyen Hoang Y, there are currently over 1,966 groups of cooperatives in the province with over 33,800 members and 93 cooperatives with over 32,000 members in the province.

At the working session, VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan pointed out a string of bottlenecks in spite of bumper harvests, such as the lack of production capital, farmers’ low incomes and unstable agricultural exports in terms of both price and quantity.

The incompatibility between agricultural production and the current economic market conditions, as well as the international integration process, were reasons for these limitations, the VFF President noted.

The official stressed that cooperatives would be vital to agricultural restructuring for the large-scale production of key products with high levels of quality and productivity, as well as modern cultivating processes in combination with processing, consumption and exports.

He suggested the province coordinate with relevant ministries to accelerate the implementation of the Party and State’s policies on improving the efficiency of collective economic and agricultural restructuring programmes for higher added value and sustainable development.
