Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh and other deputies from the province of Long An met voters in the provincial capital of Tan An.

They said that that downsizing the civil service was necessary to make the Government more effective and to reduce the burden on the budget and called for greater supervision of the NA in this effort.

Voters in Tan An also urged the NA to carefully consider raising the retirement age so that young people can make the best use of their capacity to serve the nation.

They also put forward many recommendations concerning transport infrastructure development, the fight against corruption, education, healthcare and environmental issues.

Deputy PM Binh appreciated the voters’ opinions and said that the Party and State were taking measures to push back corruption and the wasting of public resources, with serious cases uncovered and brought to trial.

In Da Lat, the capital city of Lam Dong Province, Truong Thi Mai, head of the Mass Mobilisation Commission, met with voters who are incumbent civil servants and local government officials.

They suggested that the NA should take action to enhance the capacity of deputies and the quality of meetings with voters, and deputies should inform the public of newly passed legislation after each of the parliament’s sessions.

Meanwhile NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu met with voters in Thanh Hoa’s two districts of Nong Cong and Tinh Gia, who urged greater investment in rural roads and irrigation works.

They also asked the authorities to quickly build a water plant for local residents, increase support for families on benefit, deal with overweight cargo vehicles and strengthen supervision of public investment projects.

NA Vice Chairman Luu said that issues raised by voters are practical and the Thanh Hoa delegation of NA deputies would fully convey their suggestions to the relevant agencies.
