Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the request at a working session with key leaders of Phu Tho province on December 4.

He spoke highly of the significant outcomes Phu Tho’s Party, authorities and people have attained over the past years, but pointed out a number of shortcomings for the province to address, including low farming productivity, a lack of synchronism in industrial zone infrastructure, slow urbanisation and the limited implementation of the model of new-style cooperatives.

Phu Tho should focus on upgrading infrastructure for industrial zones and clusters, aiming to create a favourable business climate for investment attraction; develop high-tech and clean agriculture while calling for more investment projects in the agricultural sector, the government leader said.

He asked the province to mobilise resources for the development of tourism and services and make optimal use of its existing advantages, including the Hung Temple historical relic site and the two UNESCO-recognised intangible cultural heritages of the mankind, Xoan singing and Hung King worshiping.

Phu Tho was also requested to successfully realise the resolutions of the Party and the Government on creating favourable conditions for developing businesses and boosting production; accelerate administrative reform and build a people-serving and constructive administrative system; focus on environmental protection work; and pay constant care to the lives of local people, particularly those in mountainous and ethnic minority areas.

PM Phuc insisted the province continue mobilising investment resources from non-State sources and use the budget in an effective and economic fashion.

At the meeting, the government leader and heads of ministries and sectors commented on a number of Phu Tho’s recommendations.

At a working session with Phu Tho General Hospital earlier the same day, PM Phuc praised the outstanding achievements the hospital has attained in medical examination and treatment, while speaking highly of its dedication to serving patients and determination in combating corruption.

He asked the institution to continue completing its management mechanism and further improve the quality of medical checkups and treatment.

Earlier, the PM and the government’s working delegation inspected the construction progress of the IC7 intersection connecting Viet Tri city and the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway.
