Voters from Hung Thanh ward of Cai Rang district focused their attention on compensation for land clearance, health insurance, jobs for young people, child sexual abuse and the allocation of public investment for Can Tho.

The NA Chairwoman affirmed that issues of voters’ concerns will be tabled for discussion at the upcoming NA session.

Mentioning the high rate of unemployment among young people, including university graduates, in the locality, Ngan said there are several reasons for the problem, one of which is the quality of training which fails to meet demands of the labour market. She also pointed to the incorrect social perception that only employment in State-owned agencies are proper jobs. More attention should be paid to training and vocation orientation, the NA Chairwoman said, urging a change of thinking among young people.

Chairwoman Ngan shared voters’ proposals on imposing stricter punishments on serious crimes such as the trading, transport and production of illegal drugs, and causing environment pollution.

Responding to public concern about child sexual abuse, the legislator affiemed that the NA has included the problem in its supervision programme and requested the Ministry of Public Security to report on the situation, with a view to considering supplementary stipulations for the revised Penal Code. Chairwoman Ngan stressed that social condemnation is very important to prevent such illegal acts.

The NA Chairwoman informed the voters that Can Tho has been allocated the same level of five-year public investment as the cities of Hai Phong and Da Nang, in order to boost its development, matching its status as one of the five centrally-governed cities and the centre of the Mekong Delta.

She also announced that at the upcoming plenary session, the 14th NA is scheduled to pass 13 bills and 5 resolutions while debating 4 draft laws for the first time. Regarding supervision work, food safety will be the focus of the session.
