Party and State leaders meet voters

Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister, Truong Hoa Binh, and a delegation of National Assembly (NA) deputies of Long An province, held meetings with voters in some districts of the province on April 27 and 28.

At the meetings, Deputy PM Binh briefed voters on the country’s socio-economic situation during the first months of this year, noting that despite being affected by drought, salt intrusion and the drop in crude oil prices, the country has gained encouraging results in realising its set economic development goals.

He requested the local authorities to pay attention to ensuring social welfare, caring for the livelihood of locals, and improving the quality of education and healthcare services.

Regarding the potential risks of environmental impact, if the Long An thermoelectric power plant project is implemented, the Deputy PM emphasised the government’s determination to develop the economy without sacrificing the environment. However, if the project’s investors pledge to use modern and friendly-environmentally technologies, it is worth considering the feasibility of the project, he said.

On the morning of April 28, Politburo member and Vice-Chairwoman of National Assembly, Tong Thi Phong, met voters from armed forces in Son La province.

At the event, the NA Vice-Chair listened and responded to voters’ queries on upgrading traffic routes in the resettlement areas of the Son La hydropower project; the retirement age of soldiers; and the construction of a ring road in the border areas of Moc Chau and Van Ho districts, which share the same borderline with Laos.

On the same day, Politburo member and Deputy PM, Vuong Dinh Hue, joined National Assembly (NA) deputies in Ha Tinh province, in a meeting with voters from Thach Ha district.

Thach Ha voters expressed hope that the NA and Government would promulgate more policies which encourage production and consumption of domestic goods, facilitate the output for agricultural products, and address environmental pollution.

Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Hue clarified a number of issues related to the socio-economic development of the country and Ha Tinh province in particular, and pointed out advantages, obstacles and orientations for the situation in the times ahead.

He also addressed voters’ concerns on law-building, corruption prevention and control, and the building of new-style rural area.

The same meeting was also held in Vinh Long province between Vice-President, Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, and voters from eight districts and cities in the locality.
