National Assembly passes two laws, one resolution

With 90.84% of approval, the Law on amendments and supplements to some articles of the Law on Overseas Representative Missions of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will take effect from July 1, 2018.

It highlights specific criteria for members of the country’s representative offices such as political firmness, profession competence, and language proficiency, as well as preferential policies for members of Vietnamese representative missions such as spouses and their children.

Adopted with 89.21 percent of yes votes, the resolution on changing the roadmap to implement Resolution 88/2014/QH 13 on reforming the curriculum and textbook for general education set a deadline for the application of new curriculum and textbook at primary school (from the 2020-2021 academic year), secondary school (from the 2021-2022 academic year), and high school (from the 2022-2023 academic year).

The Government will direct the work, arrange financial resources and prepare all necessary conditions from the teaching and managerial staff to infrastructure.

With 89 percent of approval, the revised Law on Fisheries comprises nine chapters, 105 articles regulating aquatic activities, rights and obligations of relevant organisations and individuals, and State management in the field.

It applies for Vietnamese organisations and individuals and foreign ones operating in seafood or relevant activities in Vietnam’s islands, archipelagos, water areas, and off the coast.

The revised Law will come into effect from January 1, 2019.
