NA deputies debate draft Law on State secret protection

Deputies at the 14th National Assembly debated the draft Law on the Protection of State Secrets during their November 22 sitting.

Most of the ideas focused on explaining the concept of State secrets, classify State secrets and the principles with which to protect State secrets.

They discussed the list of State secrets and the responsibility for making the list, the time-limit for State secret protection, as well as the authority to copy confidential documents.

In the morning, they also adopted a resolution on the plan to invest in constructing some eastern sections of the North-South Expressway in the 2017-2020 period.

The same day, the legislators also gave comments on the draft Law on Special Administrative-Economic Units.

They concentrated on the necessity of issuing the law and the criteria to form a special administrative-economic unit, as well as the plan to choose Van Don, Bac Van Phong and Phu Quoc as the first of their kind.

The organisation of local administration in the units, the policies for their outstanding socio-economic development and competitiveness, and special support to the three first special administrative-economic units were also debated.

The deputies also discussed many relevant issues, including the authority of courts and other judicial agencies of the units, and the operation of their political systems.

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung gave detailed information on the bill and answered any questions raised by the deputies.

As scheduled, on November 23, the lawmakers will have a plenary session to adopt the revised Law on Public Debt Management and discuss the draft Law on Cyber Security. They will also give ideas on the revised Law on Denunciation.
