Bui Van Cuong re-elected as President of 12th-tenure VGCL

The 12th-tenure Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) has elected Bui Van Cuong as the President of the 12th-tenure VGCL, with 100% of the votes.

Since April 2016, Cuong has served as a member of the 12th-tenure Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, Secretary of the Party committee and President of the VGCL, a deputy of the 14th-tenure National Assembly, Vice Chairman of the Central Council for Emulation and Reward, and Vice President of the World Federation of Trade Unions.

With 100% of the votes, the 12th-tenure Executive Committee of the VGCL reached consensus on the re-election of Bui Van Cuong as the President of the VGCL.

Also at the 12th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, the 12th-tenure Executive Committee of the VGCL elected four vice presidents of the VGCL, and one chairperson, two vice chairpersons and 16 members of the VGCL’s inspection committee for the 2018-2023 tenure.

The four new VGCL vice presidents include Tran Thanh Hai (re-elected), Tran Van Thuat (re-elected), Ngo Duy Hieu and Phan Van Anh.

According to VGCL President Bui Van Cuong, the 12th-tenure Executive Committee of the VGCL features a reasonable proportion of members spread between the three age groups: under 40 (5-10%), 40-under 50 (45-50%) and over 50 (remaining). The rate of female members of the Executive Committee has grown to 20-30%, while the percentage is 2-5% each for the members who are not Party members and who are direct workers.
