Joint efforts underway to investigate case of missing Vietnamese tourists in Taiwan (China)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the Ministry of Public Security, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, and other relevant agencies of Vietnam are working with the authorised agencies of Taiwan (China) to investigate and handle the case of 152 Vietnamese tourists who have allegedly run away in Taiwan, the MOFA said in a statement on December 27.

As reported by the Economic and Cultural Office of Vietnam in Taipei, as of the afternoon of December 27, 11 out of the 152 missing visitors had been temporarily detained by the Taiwanese authorities in service of the investigation work.

The MOFA has directed the Economic and Cultural Office of Vietnam in Taipei to maintain constant contact with the local authorities in order to be updated with information on the case and conduct consular visits to those in temporary detention.
