Deputy PM urges development of synchronous ethnic policy system

The Government's Committee for Ethnic Affairs as well as relevant ministries, agencies and localities should actively contribute their ideas towards the development of a synchronous and effective policy system on ethnic minorities.

The statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh at a seminar held in Hanoi on January 3 by the Committee for Ethic Affairs to review efforts in hunger eradication and poverty alleviation as well as to orient the policies on ethnic minorities in the coming time.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy PM affirmed that the Party and State always consider the development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas as a key task in building a great unity bloc and the sustainable development of the country.

Since 2016, the Government and PM have issued 41 documents mentioning the priority of socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, including 15 schemes and policies on ethnic minorities, he added.

At the seminar, the participants reviewed both achievements and failures in the implementation of ethnic policies during the 2016-2018 period as well as discussed the orientations and measures for development of the policies until 2030.
