Lai Chau receives first-class Independence Order

The northern moutainous province of Lai Chau held a ceremony on October 5 to celebrate its 110th founding anniversary (1909-2019) and 70th founding anniversary of the provincial Party Committee (1949-2019).

Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong attended the event and presented the first-class Independence Order to the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member Vuong apprecaited the achievements that the Party and people of Lai Chau province have attained over the past years.

He asked the locality to continue to uphold the cultural and historical tradition to fulfill the set targets and missions.

Politburo member Vuong emphasised that the province should promote its potentials and strengths to attract more resources for sustainable development in association with environmental protection and natural disaster prevention and control.

It is crucial to improve the quality of education-training and healthcare as well as maintain security and defence, political stability and national sovereignty, he added.

The Party official also stressed the need for the building of a clean and strong Party; innovation of the activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organisations; and acceleration of administrative reform.

At the ceremony, an art programme, themed ‘Lai Chau - Faith and Aspiration’, affirmed the province’s achievements over the periods as well as honoured the leadership of the Party and State.

The ceremony concluded with a spectacular firework display.
