Commission for External Relations celebrates 70th anniversary of traditional day

The Party Central Committee (PCC) Commission for External Relations held a solemn ceremony in Hanoi on November 1 to celebrate its 70th anniversary of traditional day (November 1, 1949 - 2019) and receive the Ho Chi Minh Order.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf the Politburo and the PCC’s Secretariat, Politburo member and Permanent member of the Secretariat, Tran Quoc Vuong hailed the great contributions made by generations of staff of the PCC Commission for External Relations over the past 70 years.

Politburo member Vuong urged the Commission to continue to enhance the quality of researching and forecasting the situation to propose the relevant foreign policies, in addition to strengthening and expanding the Party relationships.

The commission also needs to effectively organise the Party’s external relations activities, foster close coordination with other diplomatic agencies, and provide timely consultations for the PCC, the Politburo and the PCC Secretariat to effectively lead and direct the foreign affairs work, he noted.

In his speech at the ceremony, member of the PCC and Head of the PCC Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan noted that throughout its 70 years of establishment, striving and maturity, the commission has made a number of significant contributions to Vietnam’s revolutionary and great foreign affairs achievements of the Party and the country.

Currently, the Communist Party of Vietnam has relations with 247 political parties in 111 countries, including 65 ruling parties, he said, adding that the Party's prestige and position in many regional and international political forums has constantly affirmed.

He also emphasised that the Party’s external relations have been constantly expanded in an extensive fashion, not only with the communist parties, workers’ parties, leftist parties and progressive movements, but also with the ruling parties, political parties, major opposition parties and the parties which have a political future in many of Vietnam’s strategic and important partners.
