Party and State leaders meet voters

On November 28, Party and State leaders met with voters to informed them about the outcomes of the freshly concluded 8th session of the parliament.

National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan held a meeting on November 28 with local voters in Phong Dien Town in the district of the same name.

At the meeting, local residents voiced concerns about the quality and progress of some major transport projects, wastewater discharge into rivers, and riverbank erosion.

Addressing the meeting, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan informed about the country's socio-economic development situation in 2019. The NA leader said violations during the implementation of public investment projects, including transport ones, will be handled strictly. She stressed that capital must be disbursed on schedule and investment management must be carried out in line with law so as not to make losses to the State and the people.

Regarding environmental issues, the NA Chairwoman requested authorities of Can Tho City, including Phong Dien District, to have a better grasp of the adherence to laws on environmental protection in order to take measures to ensure people’s lives and health.

Pointing out that the Mekong Delta is facing numerous challenges posed by climate change, she said the State has been carrying out a national target programme on climate change response and, at the same time, promoting the sustainable development of the region in adaptation to this global phenomenon.

* On the same day, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Central Committee and Head of PCC Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh met with voters inHoan Lao Town, Bo Trach District and Phu Hai Ward, Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province.

He highly appreciated the enthusiastic and responsible ideas proposed by local voters on major issues of the country, directly answering the voters' inquiries on socio-economic issues.

He further informed listeners on the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws in preventing and fighting against corruption, protecting the sovereignty over sea and islands, and ensuring political security and social order and safety to aid insocio-economic development.

He asked voters to intensify the supervision work of the Party committees, authorities and each cadre and party member in the leadership and direction of the implementation of political tasks in the locality, thereby contributing to building a clean and strong political system.

At the same time, the local authorities and provincial authorities are requested to resolve the voters' problems under their competence. Meanwhile, for the remaining opinions, the provincial NA delegation will synthesize to authorities forsubmittion to the 14th National Assembly at the next session.

* On November 28, Politburo member, PCC Secretary and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong met with voters in Long Thanh District and Bien Hoa City in Dong Nai Province.

He informed voters about the outcomes of the newly concluded 8th session of the parliament.

For the voters' interests in socio-economic issues, he asked Dong Nai provincial functional agencies to thoroughly settle the people's complaints on the basis of law.
