At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented the Labour Medal, Third Class, to cadres and workers of Hai Phong Port for their outstanding achievements in national construction and development.

In only 10 years from 2009 to 2018, there were 1,321 topics and major initiatives by workers which were directly engaged in production, benefiting the unit of VND16.2 billion.

A wide range of activities were also held to improve the capacity of controlling equipment and enhance skills in fire prevention and fighting, ensuring security and safety at seaports and increasing production and business efficiency.

In 2019, the volume of goods passing through the port is expected to reach 35 million tonnes, with revenue of over VND2.2 trillion (over US$95 million), profits of over VND600 billion, and about VND200 billion in budget contribution.

The port has invested in equipment, applied advanced management technology with the leading system of production management, monitoring and handling in the region; formulating a dispatch strategy based on the “blue sea gate” model; step by step implementing an “electronic port” with online services, electronic customs clearance, automatic data exchange with international customs and ports.

The Hai Phong port gateway ranks first in the northern region and second in Vietnam in terms of the volume of goods handled.

Notably, the Hai Phong and Lach Huyen port complexes hold the utmost importance in Vietnam as they are located near international shipping lanes and are connected with existing facilities to form a system of terminals.
