General Political Department of People's Army marks 75th anniversary

The General Department of Politics under the Ministry of Defence held a ceremony in Hanoi on December 16 to mark its 75th anniversary (December 22) and receive the National Protection Order, first class.

The event was attended by Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong; Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commissionand Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich; among others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong affirmed that the 75-year history has proved that the development of Vietnamese People’s Army was due to the resultof the leadership, education and training of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh as well as the nourishment and support of the people, including the admirablecontributions made by officials, soldiers and employees of the General Department of Politics.

The Politburo member emphasised that in order to fulfill the responsibility of leading and directing the Party and political works of the whole army, the General Department of Politics should thoroughly grasp the Party’s guidelines and resolutionsand the State’s policies and laws as well as military strategies.

He asked the General Department to uphold the initiatives and creativity to improve the quality and efficiency of the advisory work and the direction of Party and political works among theentire army.

The General Department of Politics should uphold its role in advising the superiors to focus on directing and building strong Party committees in the army at all levels as well as closely coordinating with central and local agencies to build and consolidate a people-based defence, contributing to the cause ofnational construction and defence.
