The meeting was held to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Vietnamese People's Army (December 22, 1944-2019), the 30th anniversary of National Defence Day (December 22, 1989-2019), and the 53rd anniversary of the Special Operation Force.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, NA Chairwoman Ngan expressed her sincere thanks to the veteran special force, saying that the Vietnamese Party, the State and the people always remember and appreciate their great merits, sacrifices and contributions to the causes of defence, construction and renovation in the country.

She emphasised that the Party and State always care for those with meritorious services to the nation. In its activities, the NA always pays special attention to the support policies for such groups. The NA Standing Committee is directing the review and amendment of an incentive ordinance supporting people with meritorious services to ensure fairness and rationality in the implementation of preferential policies for them as well as their relatives, the top legislator said.

She affirmed the consistent policy of the Party and State to be resolute and persistent in the struggle to protect the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland. The NA has increasingly improved the legal system related to the field of national defence and security to firmly protect the Fatherland, she added.

NA Chairwoman Ngan also asked the delegates to continue organising political education and ideological orientation for veterans to uphold and promote the traditional nature of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", while actively participating in activities to protect the Party and State, to protect the socialist regime and to protect the people.

The military special force, in particular, and veterans across the country, in general, should always uphold their political and ideological virtues to truly be a firm support of the Party, State and people, NA Chairwoman Ngan suggested.
