NA chairwoman maps out important task for NA Office in 2020

National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has assigned the NA Office to take on innovative improvements in their tasks in 2020 to service the NA’s operation, as the Vietnamese highest legislative body will carry out many key tasks in the new year.

The top legislator was speaking at a conference held at the NA House in Hanoi on January 3 to summarise the NA Office’s operation in 2019 and launch new tasks for 2020.

In 2020, the Vietnamese NA assumes the chair of the 41st General Assembly of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA 41), which is described by NA Chairwoman Ngan as an honour but also a great responsibility for the body.

She requested the NA Office to closely coordinate with the NA Steering Committee and AIPA 41 Organising Committee to further elaborate on the contents and agenda of the relevant events under AIPA 41 in a thoughtful and serious manner, showing the tradition hospitality of the Vietnamese people, while focusing on spreading AIPA’s information to all Vietnamese people.

Parsing the NA Office’s efforts in the last year, NA Chairwoman Ngan emphasised that the NA Office should continue to renovate its advisory function to serve the NA’s operation in all areas of legislative building, supervising and when making important issues for the country, as well as the foreign affairs, while researching and advising the NA on the draft documents submitted to the upcoming 13th Party National Congress.

Along with that, the office needs to continue promoting IT application to further enhance the NA’s operation, in which they will soon put an e-NA centre into operation to ensure the quality and efficiency of the NA’s work, in addition to closely coordinating with the concerned agencies to ensure cyber security.

At the event, NA Secretary General cum Head of the NA Office, Nguyen Hanh Phuc, launched an emulation movement among the office’s staff in 2020, which encourages the NA Office’s employees to innovate and improve the quality of public service activities.
