NA Vice Chairwoman presents Tet gifts to needy people

Politburo member and Vice Chairwoman of National Assembly (NA) Tong Thi Phong presented gifts to social welfare beneficiaries and needy people in Quynh Luu district, in the central province of Nghe An on January 6 ahead of the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.

The ceremony was held by the Central Committees of the Vietnam Women's Union and the provincial People’s Committee at Son Hai commune.

The NA Vice Chairwoman presented gifts to heroic Vietnamese mother Dang Thi Lai in Hong Phu hamlet, Quynh Hong commune as well as gave 20 policy beneficiaries and give aids to build social houses for four families in Quynh Luu district.

Speaking at the event, NA Vice Chairwoman Phong extended her Tet (Lunar New Year) greetings to local people, wishing the province to develop into an exemplary province in the country.

She asked the provincial authorities and people to continue to uphold the traditional solidarity to help promote social welfare, especially focusing on the care for revolutionary contributors and poor households.

The NA Vice Chairwoman called for resources from agencies, benefactors, businesses, organizations and individuals to help needy people in the locality welcome a prosperous and joyful Tet festival.

President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Thu Ha and leaders of Nghe An province also presented gifts to 50 poor women and 30 scholarships to excellent students who are living in difficult circumstances, while donating to build social houses for 11 families.

Earlier on the same day, Politburo member Tong Thi Phong and the delegates paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at Kim Lien relic site in Nam Dan district.
