Dong Nai urged to speed up site clearance for Long Thanh airport project

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and leaders of ministries and branches held a teleconference with Dong Nai province to discuss solutions in order to promote a number of local socio-economic projects, especially thesite clearance for the Long Thanh airport project.

According to the provincial People’s Committee, up untilnow, 99% of the resettlement sites have been completed to serve the construction of the Long Thanh Airport Project. Regarding the construction area of ​​Long Thanh International Airport, with an area of ​​5,000 ha, the province is making an effort to hand over the whole spaceto the construction unit by the second quarter of this year.

Of over VND17 trillion allocated by the central government to the province to implement the project, Dong Nai had disbursed over VND1.7 trillion. The province said it would accelerate the disbursement of the remaining capital by the end of this year.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that from the beginning of the year, the COVID-19 epidemic has negatively impacted on many businesses across the country, however Dong Nai has made efforts to gain positive results, especially in its contribution to the state budget.

In addition to the successful completion of the task of COVID-19 prevention and control, the PM asked Dong Nai to prepare resources to control the epidemic in the future, as well as boost production, business and infrastructural development, further contributing to the development of the region and the whole country.

Emphasising that the Long Thanh International Airport is a key national project that will have a significant impact on the key southern economic region as well as Dong Naiprovince, PM Phuc asked the Ministries of Transport, Natural Resources and Environment and Finance to continue to closely work with Dong Nai province to promptly solve problems and ensure that the project remains on schedule.
