Activities held to pay tribute to national contributors

The localities around the country and organisations in Hanoi have held many practical activities to pay tribute to national contributors on the occasion of upcoming War Invalids' and Martyrs' Day (July 27).

Hanoi Municipal Youth Union has held a festival to raise funds in support of families of wounded and sick soldiers, martyrs and revolutionary contributors.

Since its launch, the municipal youth union has collected around VND100 million.

The leaders and several agencies in Quoc Oai District have visited and presented gifts to local heroic Vietnamese mothers, revolutionary contributors and their relatives. Ha Dong District People’s Committee, in collaboration with agencies, people’s committees, fatherland fronts and organisations in its wards, granted gifts worth a total of over VND5.6 billion to policy beneficiaries.

* Hai An District authorities in Hai Phong City visited and presented gifts to heroic Vietnamese mothers, revolutionary veterans, families of wounded soldiers and martyrs in the locality on July 15.

In addition, ten delegations were formed in the city’s Tien Lang District to present nearly 100 gifts to revolutionary contributors. The authorities expressed their hope that the families would continue to contribute to the district’s socio-economic development.

* On the occasion, the agencies and organisations in Thanh Hoa Province visited, paid tribute to and mobilised local policy beneficiaries as well as offered incense and flowers to martyrs at the martyrs’ cemeteries in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien.

* Bac Kan provincial Youth Union and Youth Federation officially launched the 'I love my Fatherland' journey. Accordingly, the organising board presented 44 gifts to former youth volunteers in the province and handed over a project to Na Tu Youth Volunteer Historical Relic Site in Cam Giang Commune, Bach Thong District.

* A memorial candle lighting ceremony has been held at the Dong Loc Memorial Complex, the shrine dedicated to 23 youth volunteer martyrs in Phu Loc commune and the monument dedicated to transport martyrs in the central province of Ha Tinh.

On the occasion, nearly 700 gifts have been presented to war veterans and former youth volunteers in the province.
