The Government leader made the remark at a ceremony held on July 24 to celebrate the 60th founding anniversary of the Supreme People’s Procuracy (SPP) (July 26, 1960-2020) and the sector’s sixth Patriotic Emulation Congress.

The event was also attended by Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong.

Addressing the ceremony, PM Phuc stated that over the past six decades, the procuracy sector has renewed its mindset, organisational structure and working methods, and effectively fought crimes, including non-traditional crimes such as hi-tech crimes, financial-securities crimes, environmental crimes, and crimes involving foreign elements.

In the time ahead, the sector should fully grasp and effectively implement the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws in the field of justice, while remaining aware of the complicated and sensitive issues that could affect the country’s political security and social order and safety, the leader proposed.

The people’s procuracy must be a sharp tool of the Party in detecting and handling corruption crimes, contributing to safeguarding the Party and the regime and enhancing the people’s trust, he said, asking the procuracy sector to continue improving its responsibility for and efficiency in the supervision of judicial activities.

The sector should strengthen its prosecution responsibilities and ensure that prosecution is associated with investigation, in addition to working with the relevant agencies to promptly and strictly handle serious and complicated criminal cases of public concern, PM Phuc requested.

He asked the procuracy sector to further enhance the efficiency of international cooperation in recovering State assets lost in economic, corruption and drug cases involving foreign elements, as well as the acceleration of its patriotic emulation movements with practical and effective content.
