Speaking at a meeting in Hanoi on October 4, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission and leaders of the Ministry of National Defence, General Ngo Xuan Lich, who is a Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of Defence, acknowledged and praised the efforts of the entire army for their results over the past nine months.
The meeting gathered members of the Central Military Commission and representatives from the army who will attend the 13th Conference of the 12th Party Central Committee that is scheduled to open in the capital city today.
Minister Lich noted that the recently-concluded 11th Congress of the Army Party Committee for 2020-2025 term was a success, stating that it was a political event of important significance not only for the armed forces but for the whole country as it opens up a new stage of development for the army in the new period.
The congress is also an opportunity to affirm that the entire army is always steadfast and has absolute confidence in the leadership of the Party and the management and administration of the State, Lich said, while expressing his belief that the Military Party Committee would continue to successfully complete its military and national defence tasks, as well as the Party building work in 2020 and the following years.
Emphasising that the 13th Conference of the 12th Party Central Committee has a very important task in preparing for the 13th Party National Congress, Lich urged the members of the Central Military Commission and representatives from the army attending the conference to deeply grasp the directions of the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Military Commission and General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong at the previous 11th Congress of the Military Party Committee, while promoting high sense of responsibility and making significant contributions to the success of the upcoming conference.
