In Tien Giang, Politburo member and head of the Central Commission for Organisation Pham Minh Chinh asked the province to overcome difficulties and tap into its strengths in order to achieve faster and more sustainable growth.
Over the past five years, the Mekong Delta province has recorded an average annual growth of 6.3%, with income per capita in 2020 reaching nearly VND50 million (US$2,150), up nearly VND14 million from 2015.
The percentage of communes recognised as new rural areas has reached 62.7% and the poverty rate has dropped to 3.1%.
* The Party convention of Tien Giang was attended by Politburo member Hoang Trung Hai, who asked the Mekong Delta province to promote links with regional provinces and develop large-scale and high-tech agricultural production.
During the 2016-2020 period, the provincial economy grew by an average of 7.3% annually, with its income per capita in 2020 reaching VND58.6 million (US$2,500).
