Speaking at the event, Politburo member and Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the NA Tong Thi Phong recalled the historic milestone of the first general election of the Vietnamese legislature, which, she said, marked the first time that the people showed their mastery of the country by directly casting ballots to elect qualified people to the NA.
She asked the delegation of Son La’s NA deputies to further improve their qualifications, prestige and operations in the time ahead, while making good preparations for the election of deputies to the 15th NA and all-level People’s Councils in the 2021-2026 tenure.
Son La should perform well in personnel work and direct the successful organisation of the election, ensuring it takes place in a democratic, fair, lawful, safe and economical fashion, the NA Vice Chairwoman requested.

On the same day, Politburo member Phong attended a ceremony to plant 220 cherry blossom trees at Tay Bac Square in Son La City, while visiting and presenting gifts to local policy beneficiary families and poor households.
* On Monday, at the NA Building in Hanoi, the trade union of the NA Office held an awards ceremony for the contest on learning about the 75-year history of the Vietnamese legislature. The event saw the attendance of NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu and NA General Secretary cum Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc.
The organisers presented one special prize, one first prize, two second prizes and two third prizes to the outstanding contestants.
* On the same day, the NA deputy delegations of Lao Cai Province and Ha Giang Province also held meetings to mark the 75th anniversary of the NA’s first general election and review their performance in the 2016-2021 tenure.
