75th anniversary of NA’s first general election celebrated in Lai Chau and Dong Nai

NDO – A ceremony was held in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau on December 29 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first general election of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) (January 6, 1946 – 2021).

The event saw the attendance of Member of the Party Central Committee cum NA Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien.

Speaking at the event, Member of the Standing Board of the Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee cum Deputy Head of the provincial NA deputies’ delegation Tong Thanh Binh recalled the historical milestone of the first general election of the Vietnam NA with the most progressive and democratic principles.

The NA deputies’ delegation from Lai Chau has made important contributions to the socio-economic development of the locality in particular and the country in general, he said, adding that the delegation has innovated its operating methods to fulfil all assigned tasksfor the 2016-2021 tenure.

In his speech, NA Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien asked the delegation of Lai Chau’s NA deputies to further improve their qualifications, prestige and operations in the time ahead, while making good preparations for the election of deputies to the 15th NA and all-level People’s Councils in the 2021-2026 tenure.

Also on December 29, a similar event was held in the southern province of Dong Nai to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the NA’s first general election and review their performance in the 2016-2021 tenure.
