Party’s Internal Affairs sector contributes to handling corruption cases

The Internal Affairs sector of the Party Central Committee has done a good job of providing advice for the Party to effectively implement policies on anti-corruption, said Politburo member and permanent member of Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong.

The Party official made the remarks at an online conference held by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs on January 9 to review the performance of the Party’s Internal Affairs sector in 2020 and launch new tasks for 2021.

During the term of the 12th Party Congress, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs coordinated with the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption to handle 128 corruption cases, of which 74 and 667 defendants were brought to trial.

In 2020, the Commission coordinated with the relevant agencies to handle 65 corruption cases with 20 and 115 defendants being tried at first instance.

Permanent member of Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong valued the achievements that the Party’s Internal Affairs division has achieved which also contribute more generally to the overall development of the nation.

As the Party's strategic advisory body in the areas of internal affairs, anti-corruption and judicial reform, the Internal Affairs sector needs to continue to reform and innovate to improve the quality and effectiveness of its work in the future, Politburo member Vuong said.

He also emphasised the importance of the enhancement of human resources in the area to fulfill tasks in the new situation as best as possible.

At the conference, permanent member of Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong granted the Labour Order (first class) to the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs and Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs Vo Van Dung in recognition of their outstanding achievements in anti-corruption work.
