Youth Union’s 90th founding anniversary celebrated

On March 26, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU)’s chapters nationwide held solemn meetings and practical activities to celebrate the union’s 90th founding anniversary (March 26, 1931-2021).

The Youth Union of the Dak Lak Power Company coordinated with the Youth Union of Dak Lak Province in handing over the work “Lighting rural roads” to Pa village, a revolutionary base of Cu Prao commune, M’drak district. The VND25 million facility consists of 1.2km of public lighting electric lines with 24 bulb positions.

* The Youth Union of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper held a ceremony to mark the HCYU’s 90th founding anniversary and honour members with outstanding contributions to youth union work and youth movements in 2020.

* In Hanoi, the Youth Unions of Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army) Newspaper and the Army Theatre organised a musical programme and a talk show on the topic “Uncle Ho with the young people”. On the occasion, outstanding individuals and collectives in youth union work and youth movements during 2016-2020 received certificates of merit from the HCYU Central Committee.

* The Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City held a Youth Festival 2021 at the Youth Cultural House in District 1, during which the union’s Standing Board presented the 2021 Ho Hao Hon Award to 10 collectives with initiatives, models and solutions successfully applied in the reality of youth union work and in youth and children’s movements in the city.

On the occasion, the city’s Youth Union launched an application used to search for information about its base in the resistance war against the US invaders and inaugurated the project to upgrade and repair its traditional room.

* A club “Youths protect sea and island border sovereignty and security” made its debut in Thanh An island commune, Can Gio district, HCM City. It is tasked with uniting, gathering and educating members to actively study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style; raising the awareness among youth union members, the youth and people in the locality; and promoting young people’s pioneering and voluntary role in the management and protection of sea and island border sovereignty and security.

* The HCYU provincial chapters of Tuyen Quang, Vinh Long, Kon Tum, Lai Chau and Lang Son held ceremonies to mark the HCYU’s 90th founding anniversary and honour prominent individuals and collectives in local youth movements.

* The HCYU chapter in Laos and the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos co-organised a meeting in Vientiane on March 26 to celebrate the union’s 90th founding anniversary.

Speaking at the event, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the chapter Tran Dai Thang reviewed the glorious tradition of the HCYU since its inception, noting that with its pioneering role, the union has made an important contribution to the cause of national construction and defence.

He affirmed that the chapter will continue to perform its functions, duties and role in the coming time, contributing to building and defending the fatherland of Vietnam as well as constantly fostering the special friendship and solidarity between the youth unions and people of the two countries.

As part of activities to celebrate the HCYU’s 90th founding anniversary, in addition to art programmes and sports exchanges, an exhibition was launched showcasing hundreds of photos featuring the HCYU’s activities as well as the cooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao youth unions in the recent past.
