President Phuc entrusted for election for next NA tenure

Newly-elected State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has been entrusted by local voters to run for a deputy position for the next National Assembly (NA) tenure.

On the evening of April 5, the Dien Bien Ward authorities in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh District hosted a conference to collect comments and cast vote of confidence from local voters for candidates running for their positions at the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th NA and People's Councils at all levels in the 2021-2026 tenure.

At the conference, voters stated that President Phuc, with his outstanding qualities, reputation and contributions to the nation and his close relation to local people during his previous position as Prime Minister, fully meets the criteria and deserves to be a deputy for the next NA term.

On behalf of the nominated candidates, State President Phuc expressed his sincere thanks to the voters' sentiment and comments towards those entrusted to run in the upcoming elections, saying that this is a source of encouragement for them and himself to continue their efforts and devotion.

The newly elected senior official emphasised that NA deputies and delegates at the People's Councils should try their best to fulfil their assigned duties, while always be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, serving the people, putting national interests first, meeting the trust of the Party and State and continuing to be close to the people and voters.

He proposed that the Hanoi, Ba Dinh District and Dien Bien Ward’s authorities continue to promote democracy at the grassroots level, ensure the people's right to mastery and promote reform and innovation to improve the material and spiritual life of the people.

* On the same day, at the Residential Area No. 10A, the Vinh Phuc Ward authorities in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh District hosted a similar event to collect comments and votes of confidence from local voters for Politburo member cum Head of the Party Central Committee for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai and Director General of Vietnam Administration of Sea and Islands Ta Dinh Thi. 100% of the voters at the conference unanimously introduced Mai and Thi to run for their slots at the 15th NA.

* Also on April 5, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee announced that after the second consultative conference, the total number of candidates running for the 15th NA deputies is 1,084, including 205 from central agencies and 803 introduced by local units, while 76 are self-nominated.

Among the total, 481 are female candidates (44.33%), 242 are ethnic minorities (22.3%), 145 are from outside the Party, accounting for 13.36%, 208 are from the outgoing 14th NA (19.26%, meaning the re-election rate is 41.6% of the total of 500 elected NA deputies), and young people (under 40 years old) account for 305 candidates, making up 28.11%.

Meanwhile, the number of candidates running for provincial People's Council deputies are 7,161 people, of which 45 are self-nominated in 23 provinces and cities, accounting for 1.2%.

The third consultative conference is scheduled from April 15 to 19 to decide on a list of qualified candidates to nominate for the upcoming 15th NA.

* In Hung Nguyen District, Nghe An Province, it is reported that the district has established seven constituencies and seven district electoral boards, as well as 123 constituencies and 123 communal electoral boards. All 18 communes and towns in the district have completed the establishment of election teams with 123 groups as of March 30.

* The delegation supervising the elections in Ben Tre Province has completed the supervision work in phase 1 (from March 25 to 31) in nine communes and wards and nine districts and cities. Up to this point, there have been no complaints, denunciations nor petitions related to the elections, while communications have been carried out on a timely manner.
