National Assembly candidates meet voters in Lam Dong and Thai Nguyen

Candidates running for seats in the 15th National Assembly (NA) of Lam Dong Province’s constituency No.1, including Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac, held a meeting with local voters on May 10.

To ensure safety in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was held virtually with voters from more than five communes of Lac Duong District in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

After representatives of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee gave a brief introduction of the candidates’ biographies, the candidates presented their programmes of actions if they are elected. Local voters also expressed their opinions and aspirations.

Noting his action plan, Politburo member Trac said that if elected, as an NA deputy of Lam Dong, he will keep close contact with local voters to learn about their wishes, honestly reflect their opinions to the parliament and State agencies, and deal with citizens’ complaints, denunciations, and petitions in a timely and effective manner.

His action plan focused on key issues, such as continuing to improve the effectiveness of the fight against corruption; further promoting the role of the people in the fight against corruption and negative actions and their participation in building a clean and strong Party and State, in line with the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Also on May 15, Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defence joined candidates running for seats in the 15th NA to meetwith voters in constituency No. 2 of the northern mountainous province of Thai Nguyen.

He emphasised that if elected, he will advise on building policies and decisions on socio-economic development in the Northern Midlands region, including Thai Nguyen; and study and propose building and perfecting the legal system, especially policies and laws related to the strategy for national construction and protection, and the construction of an all-people national defence posture attached to a firm security posture throughout the country.

The elections of deputies to the 15th NA and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure are slated for May 23.
