This was according to Politburo member cum Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Vo Van Thuong during a teleconference held by the Ministry of Public Security on May 14.

The event aimed to review the five-year implementation of Directive No. 05-CT/TW (Directive 05), dated May 15, 2016 from the Politburo, on promoting learning and following President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, as well as regarding movements among the force building and improving the capacity and image of its staff.

Hailing the important results achieved by the force in implementing Directive 05 over the past five years, Politburo member Thuong assessed that the study and following of President Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and style has been demonstrated by specific activities associated with the task of protecting national security, ensuring social order and safety, and building a people's police force.

He went on to say that after five years, many typical models and good practices have appeared amongst the force, with police officers always striving to cultivate and practice conduct according to Uncle Ho’s teachings, while overcoming hardships with creativity to fight and sacrifice themselves for the peaceful life of the people, worthy as the core force in the cause of protecting social security and order.

In the time to come, Thuong suggested the Ministry of Public Security continue to study and grasp the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, Directive 05 and the Politburo's conclusion on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.

The result of the movement should be reflected in curbing and reducing crime, maintaining a peaceful life for the people, and contributing to firmly protecting the ideological foundation of the Party, Thuong said, adding the force should take the results and satisfaction and trust of the people as the main criteria in measuring the quality of its organisation and staff, thus increasing the people's confidence in the police force.

It is important to continue to effectively carrying out the responsibilities of role models in the People's Police force, as well as promoting the exemplary role of leaders in observing discipline, processes and working regulations.

He also asked each police officer to regularly self-examine and self-correct to prevent deterioration in political thought, morality and lifestyle, while actively improving their profession in the context of extensive globalisation and as science-technology develops strongly, with criminals becoming increasingly sophisticated, in order to have sufficient knowledge and qualifications to refute false and hostile views, protect the ideological foundation of the Party, ensure social stability, and effectively serve the cause of national construction and defence.

At the event, Thuong joined Minister of Public Security General To Lam to award Certificates of Merit from the ministry to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in the movements.
