PM identifies key tasks for Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a working session with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Hanoi on June 2, during which he identified the major tasks for the ministry in the coming time.

Speaking at the session, PM Chinh affirmed that the Party and State have eyed that socio-economic development is central, Party building is the key, national defense and security is a vital and constant task, and cultural development is the foundation of the society.

He praised the achievements and efforts made by the culture, sports and tourism sector in recent years, which he said have contributed to the overall development of the country.

In the coming time, he requested the sector to focus on several major tasks, including implementing the 13th National Party Congress’s Resolution, fostering the application of science and technology in operation, enhancing Party building, and promoting the campaign on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and lifestyle.

The ministry was asked to develop its the apparatus towards a streamlined, effective and efficient operation, and pay greater attention to administrative reform and human resource training.

In addition, the Government leader also called for sound policies to boost the development of cultural industry and entertainment industry, the foundations for which must be built with reference to the traditional culture and history, distinctive potential and competitive advantages of the country and the national achievements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Greater importance should be attached to building national tourism brand and working out a strategy to developing Vietnamese sports, he said.

More communication programmes and campaigns are needed to encourage people to fight against manifestations of ethical and lifestyle degradation and mobilise their participation in the country’s construction and development, he added.

Regarding the fight against COVID-19, he acknowledged and shared serious difficulties caused by the pandemic on the tourism industry, suggesting the sector to work with the Government in implementing the ‘5K + vaccine’ strategy while creating conditions for businesses to participate in the prevention and control of the pandemic.
