In a letter sent to Tran Cang from Phu Tam commune in Chau Thanh district in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang, the President lauded his efforts in mobilising more than VND17 billion (US$740,145) and his coordination with relevant agencies and local authorities to assist 4,582 people in need.

His deeds have helped strengthen the great national unity bloc and promote the image of Vietnam’s elderly, while setting a bright example for the younger generations, he said.

The letter was sent on the occasion of the National Patriotic Emulation Day (June 11).
