This is an important political event, aiming to convey a message about Vietnam with its action-oriented National Assembly which is also active in multilateral cooperation with an open foreign policy as well as the aspiration for development and efforts to rise up amid the pandemic. The trip will also express the respect of the Vietnamese National Assembly for the EP and the parliaments of partner countries.

The WCSP5 is the largest international event gathering parliamentarians from different countries held in person since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participation in the conference will help promote Vietnam's role and position in regional and world parliamentary cooperation mechanisms, taking advantage of the support of the parliaments of other countries, and boosting the joint diplomatic efforts of the Vietnamese Party and State for the sake of the nation.

In the context of the complicated pandemic developments in Vietnam and in the world, the Vietnamese delegation will share many ideas to contribute to global pandemic prevention and control.

Through bilateral meetings within the framework of the conference, the Vietnamese delegation will actively implement vaccine diplomacy policy and mobilise other countries and international organisations to provide Vietnam with COVID-19 vaccines and treatment drugs as well as promoting vaccine trading in order to diversify the supply of vaccines and necessary medical equipment and supplies for domestic pandemic prevention and control.

After attending the conference, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue will pay a working visit to the European Parliament, hold bilateral activities with Austria and Belgium and pay an official visit to Finland with the aim of promoting relations with the European Union (EU) - one of the leading partners of Vietnam.

The visit is also of great significance after the EP and the Vietnamese NA ratified the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), demonstrating Vietnam's goodwill in implementing its commitments, while at the same time opening a fine cooperative relationship between leaders of the two legislative bodies in the new term of the Vietnamese NA.

The visit is also expected to promote the implementation of the EVFTA, mobilise the parliaments of member countries to soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and affirm Vietnam's policy of maintaining a stable environment to attract foreign investment.

The high-ranking delegation from the Vietnamese NA will also have many important high-level meetings in Belgium and Finland in order to further deepen relations with the ruling political parties, promote parliamentary cooperation, expand person to person diplomacy and deploy vaccine diplomacy.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese NA Chairman and the delegation will directly attend investment promotion activities to connect Vietnamese and foreign enterprises, contributing to the maintenance of global supply and production chains and fostering economic recovery after the pandemic. The events are also expected to promote the potential and strengths of Vietnam as well as introducing Vietnam's investment environment and policies in order to attract resources to serve the dual goal of both fighting the epidemic and developing the economy.

Within the framework of the visit, the high-ranking delegation from the Vietnamese NA will also hold meetings with the Vietnamese community in their host countries to encourage them to overcome their difficulties while expressing the Party and State's care for them and boosting the patriotism of expatriates towards the fatherland.

The trip to the WCSP 5, the EP, Belgium and Finland by NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the high-ranking NA delegation be a success, is aimed at contributing to tightening the relationship with the EP and the parliaments of partner countries, thereby affirming the message of Vietnam as a country with constant innovation and an active and responsible member of the international community, particularly in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
