NDO - Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s official visits to the Republic of Korea and India from December 12-19 continue to strengthen and promote Vietnam’s relations with these two countries, opening a new stage of more substantive and effective cooperation.

The Republic of Korea is one of Vietnam’s most important partners. In its New Southern Policy Plus, the Republic of Korea regards Vietnam as one of its strategic and core partners. In political cooperation, exchanges have been maintained by the two sides in a flexible manner amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The relationship between the two National Assemblies has been strengthened and developed, the two sides having enhanced exchanges, cooperated and supported each other at international and regional parliamentary forums.

In economic cooperation, the Republic of Korea ranks first in foreign investment in Vietnam and second in trade, development assistance, worker reception and tourism. Cooperation in education, culture, science-technology, people-to-people exchanges and the cooperation between localities have also seen important development steps.

The Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership is growing well, with effective results and high levels of trust. The two countries are preparing to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties (1972-2022). India affirms the central role of ASEAN in its Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative and determines Vietnam as a pillar in its Look East policy.

Defence-security cooperation between the two nations have become a strategic and important pillar. Economic cooperation is enhanced as India is among Vietnam’s top ten trading partners, with two-way trade growing steadily over the years. Cooperation between the two law-making bodies is developing in a positive way, helping to strengthen bilateral relations. At inter-parliamentary forums, the two countries share and support each other’s viewpoints.

Made at a time when Vietnam’s relations with the Republic of Korea and India are in the fine development stages, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s official visits affirm that Vietnam attaches importance to the strategic partnership with the Republic of Korea and the comprehensive strategic partnership with India.

During the visits, the leaders will discuss measures to further boost the strategic partnership between Vietnam and these two countries, enhance connectivity, economic recovery, flexible and safe adaptation to the pandemic; exchange opinions on regional and international issues of shared interest for common development.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s official visits to the Republic of Korea and India are a step in the continuation of implementing the 13th National Party Congress’s foreign policy of promoting bilateral diplomacy and enhancing multilateral diplomacy.

The visits demonstrate the National Assembly’s proactiveness in foreign policy, helping to implement the Party’s foreign policy; affirm that Vietnam is a friend and trusted partner of the Republic of Korea and India, and that Vietnam supports the role and cooperation with such countries to make contributions towards peace, stability, cooperation and development throughout the region and the world at large.

May National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s official visits to the Republic of Korea and India be a great success, taking Vietnam’s relations with these two countries to a new development level, which is substantive, effective and sustainable.
