That was shared by Saleh Mohamed Ahmed al Suqri, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Vietnam, on the occasion of the 51st National Day of the Sultanate of Oman (November 18, 1970 - 2021).

He said that the two countries are in the process of negotiating to finalise other agreements to further promote bilateral relations in the coming time.

According to the diplomate, the two countries have a long tradition of friendship and cooperation and are potential strategic trade partners. The two sides regularly support each other in maintaining Vietnam's role in Southeast Asia and Oman’s in the Middle East, as well as in the regional and international arenas.

Thanks to the efforts of the two Governments, bilateral relations between the two have developed and made great achievements in cooperation and have been enhanced in all fields since the establishment of diplomatic relation in 1992. The two countries have been enjoying good cooperation relations in various political and economic fields, with bilateral trade having reached 200 million USD last year, Ambassador Saleh Mohamed Ahmed al Suqri shared.

Particularly, economic cooperation between Vietnam and Oman has witnessed a positive and strong growth in recent years, reflected in the investment activities of Vietnam - Oman Investment Joint Stock Company (VOI), a joint venture between the State Capital Investment Corporation of Vietnam and the Oman Investment Authority (formerly State General Reserve Fund), established in 2008.

After over 12 years of operation, VOI has disbursed more than 300 million USD into businesses and projects in Vietnam, focusing on essential fields such as hi-tech agriculture, infrastructure, water treatment plants, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and education.

In addition, the two countries also focus on promoting social security activities to support people and workers affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, as well as natural disasters.

Recently, in late September, on behalf of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, Ambassador Saleh Mohamed Ahmed al Suqri presented aid worth 300,000 USD to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, in order to help a number of central provinces in Vietnam in preventing and overcoming the consequences of recent storms and floods.
