Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore pays official visit to Vietnam

Speaker Tan Chuan-Jin and his spouse, along with a delegation from the Singaporean Parliament, will arrive in Hanoi on May 18 to begin their official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

The Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament and his spouse are accompanied by Members of the Singaporean Parliament Patrick Tay Teck Guan, Chua Kheng Wee Louis, Carrie Tan, Wan Rizal, Don Wee and Xie Yao Quan, along with Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam.

Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore Tan Chuan-Jin was born in 1969 and completed a master’s degree in public management at the National University of Singapore.

He served in the Singapore Armed Forces from 1987 to March 2011, and then became a member of the Singaporean Parliament in May 2011.

Between June 2011 and July 2012, Tan Chuan-Jin was appointed as Minister of State for National Development and Manpower. He held the position of Acting Minister for Manpower from August 2012 to September 2013 and then officially headed the Ministry of Manpower from May 2014 to April 2015.

He also served as the Minister for Social and Family Development from April 2015 to 10 September 2017.

Tan Chuan-Jin has been the Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore from September 2017 to present.
